The Carnegie Building is currently undergoing earthquake strengthening work and is closed to the public with the collection in storage. The research centre is still available. Please contact us to enquire.
Audio-visuals provide a great introduction to the West Coast while exhibitions tell stories of pounamu, tangata whenua, the gold-rush, whitebaiting and more.
The museum has a great collection of treasures and its photograph and archives collections are an important resource for historians and genealogists.
